BITOI ‘Sirkulu’

After two years of relentless touring and uncompromising creativity, BITOI returns to Inkonst to celebrate the release of Sirkulu, their debut album out on Supertraditional on March 7. A daring exploration of voice and electric bass, the album cements BITOI’s rapid rise as one of the most innovative acts in experimental music today. Premiering as a constellation at Intonal Festival 2023, BITOI immediately captured the attention of global audiences. Led by Cassius Lambert on bass guitar and joined by vocalists Alexandra Shabo, Anja Tietze Lahrmann, and Lise Kroner, the group has quickly gained recognition for their transformative performances and groundbreaking soundscapes. BITOI—short for “Bass Is The Original Instrument”—reimagines the possibilities of their instruments, blending the electric bass and human voice into a unified sonic entity. “By asking uncommon questions of voice and bass, we discover answers that lead us to music we’ve never encountered before,” the band reflects. Their lyrics, inspired by the phonetic interpretation of bird sounds, weave a richly textured soundscape where bird calls, wind, and vocals converge. Their 2023 EP, -O-, offered a first glimpse into their singular world—a vulnerable yet bold interplay of sound and visual expression. Now, with Sirkulu, BITOI pushes even further, presenting a raw yet refined sonic core that balances tradition and abstraction.
