The world’s first theater play in Ume SamiDuring the opening day of the Sami language week, Henrik Barruk talks about his pioneering work to save the Umes Sami, a language that was close to extinction. He has also translated parts of the theater play ”When we were Sami” into Ume Sami – it is the first time a play has been performed in the language. We also get to hear the actors from the ensemble of ”When we were Sami” and Sara-Helén Persson, who acted as Ume Sami language coach in the production, talk about their work with the show.
