Organizer: Maxim

Jazz icon returns to Stockholm in exclusive collaboration with piano poet Leo Genovese.

In collaboration with Maxim, Fasching presents an evening with one of the most groundbreaking jazz artists of our time: esperanza spalding. A five-time Grammy winner, collaborator with Wayne Shorter, Milton Nasciment and Herbie Hancock, and professor at Harvard, spalding has spent her career reshaping the edges of jazz. She is a bassist, vocalist, composer and artist whose presence transforms performance into ceremony. Music flows through her entirely – as if she’s less a performer and more a conduit between sound and soul.

Her return to Stockholm – coinciding with her participation in the Polar Music Prize ceremony honoring Herbie Hancock – makes this night even more powerful. It’s a rare opportunity to witness an artist who doesn’t just interpret tradition, but actively reshapes the future. Her work is high-concept and visionary, yet grounded in a deep sense of humanity and accessibility. This is music that moves the body, stirs the spirit, and gently recalibrates the soul.

Joining her is Argentine pianist Leo Genovese – longtime collaborator, Grammy winner, and master of free-form expression, with a Grammy award for best improvised jazz solo to prove it. Leo's playing shifts effortlessly from rhythmic fire to lyrical whispers, echoing spalding’s own expansive artistry. Together, they create a space where music lives and breathes—playful, spiritual, and wide open. An evening where jazz isn't only played, it's created.
