2 hrs 13 min The year is 1307, and the Roman Empire's grip on Europe is weakening. The Austrian Habsburg family strives for power and more land, and Switzerland is forced to bow under the Austrian yoke.
Wilhelm Tell, a local hunter, reluctantly helps a peasant who has killed a cruel Austrian governor to safety. As the journey progresses, more like-minded people join him, and Tell realizes that this is a sign of the growing Swiss resistance.
The situation escalates when the tyrannical Austrian governor Gessler orders Tell to shoot an apple from his own son's head as punishment. With his family threatened, Tell is forced to take a stand. He not only joins the resistance movement, but becomes its leader in the fight to preserve his country's freedom for generations to come.
