The Creation Story Set in the Reality of Västerbotten

  • I believe in evolution. In my worldview, the world did not come into existence as described in the Book of Genesis.

I consider the creation story to be a beautiful, powerful, and poetic narrative—as long as one is free to believe in it as they wish. And thankfully, we have freedom of religion in our country. This means that one can believe in evolution and still be open to spirituality at the same time. Not everyone in the world has the freedom to believe what they want.

I view the Judeo-Christian creation story as a tale about how everything began. And there's nothing strange about that. Such stories have emerged in most human cultures. Simply looking up at the starry sky on a clear winter's night raises profound questions. And the answers to those questions have varied greatly depending on time and place.

According to the creation story, humanity is a construct of the Lord, a kind of invention.

But perhaps it was like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse when humans were given the task of managing creation.

Since we are now well on our way to exterminating all other creatures and destroying the entire planet, one must ask whether there was a flaw in the design. This question is explored in the performance.
