Organizer: MALÅBYGDENS KULTUR

Electronic music and Sámi joik merge as Ávus takes the stage. The Grammy-awarded saxophonist Jonas Knutsson leads the group, known from collaborations with artists like Avicii. Now he brings joikers Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso and Jörgen Stenberg, percussionist Mikael Emsing, and synth artist Andreas Estensen on a unique musical journey.

The group Ávus, whose name means both "space" and "joy" in Sámi, creates a grand experience with joik at the center, accompanied by electronic tones, powerful sound design, and light effects.

Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso is an acclaimed joiker from Finnish Karesuando, known for her collaboration with Loreen in Sápmi Sessions. For her, joik is part of her identity and a love to be shared with the world. Jörgen Stenberg, a reindeer herder and joiker from Malå Sameby, carries the joik tradition forward by bringing hidden joiks to life in new musical encounters.

Together with Emsing's and Estensen’s rhythmic and electronic elements, Ávus offers an emotional and playful concert that promises to fascinate and inspire.
